Heather Murdock

My mother-in-law thinks I am not very practical, but I do run a household of four children. I have a husband who travels internationally a great deal for work, and whom I love very much. I paint, ride a horse, and drive children to all the places they need to be at all times. I went to college in Maine and graduate school in Boston so, I am not a native Texan, but my home has been in Austin since 1995.

I give myself a deadline of one painting a month, and that seems to work for me right now. I have a beautiful studio in our home with wonderful light from around 11 am to 2 pm, which is about the time I get to paint with everything else going on in the family schedule. I am not a late night painter. I need sleep. I do sometimes greet my youngest two off the bus with paint all over my hands and my glasses on my head, but who cares?! I am very much in love with oil painting with the window cracked right now.
